My name is Tanya Smith and I am co-owner with my husband, Joel of Smith Woodworks & Design. This is my first attempt at a blog, but was disturbed at something I saw in the paper yesterday, so here it goes.

A homeowner pays someone $4500.00 to remodel her kitchen and after a few days of work, he is a no show.

Can I offer a little advice? Please get references on any work being done at your home, don’t just look at pictures, go and talk to the homeowners of a previous job.

Don’t always go with the “cheapest” bid. You have no idea of how many times people come to us to fix a job someone else started. Refrigerator would not fit in the space provided. Dishwasher would not fit. Poorly designed and poor craftsmanship are the most common mistakes.

In this day in time, we all know it is about the money, but is it throwing money away to go with the cheapest out there to only have to replace it in a couple of years.

Not here to judge anyone actions, but there are a lot of good cabinet remodelers in the Augusta area, so please take time to check them out and look at their business practices.
